Mama's Day

We had an awesome Mother's Day weekend! On Saturday, we went to our usual vintage hopping! We did that all day, from 10am until 5pm. It was exhausting but totally loved it! Then that night, my mister had a show with his band and I got to watch it after many months of missing his shows. Then yesterday, my mister and I woke up early to buy flowers and chocolates for my sister and mom, saw a yard sale nearby and bought 2 vintage tops, for me of course we then went to church, then went to visit my grandma at the cemetery and then we went to chi town for some early dinner.

My kids gave me a letter they wrote (typed) and it was just so thoughtful and I am still hung over by it.

It’s the thought that counts not the grammatical and typographical errors.
my daughter made this picture, using the mouse. Not bad 'eh?
I told her, it would have been so much easier with my writing tablet but she said asking me would have spoiled the surprise.

Did you notice the Alice in wonderland theme going on here? I guess, they know their mom too well.

At the cemetery, I noticed my shoes and realized that I love metallic shoes so much ever since I was a little kid. I get weak in the knees when I see sparkly shoes.

Here is my daughter’s shoe, I guess they love what I love. ( I love the brand, It’s called LOVE)

Chinatown: It reminds me of the film Spirited Away.

And it reminds me of my childhood so much. My mom’s friends are all Chinese and also my Uncle’s wife and I also lived with their family for a while. My childhood best friend is also Chinese. So their culture has been a big part of my life, growing up. When I go to Chinatown, it’s like being on a time machine.

There is something magical about these lanterns. I just love them so much.

Isn’t he a cutie? I hope he doesn’t become a bike rider when he grows up.

We also did some turtle and koi fish watching at the pond near the restaurant.

We didn’t eat here, I just took a photo of it because it was the restaurant from the movie “I love you Man”

Our weekend was very simple but very meaningful and I got to spend it with my most favorite people in the world. I love my family so much. And I may not be famous or rich but I feel so wealthy because I have a beautiful family and the fact that, I am a mother.

How was your Mother’s Day?

Saturday thrifting

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

I had so much fun thrifting with my mom and sister yesterday.
I had some amazing finds. We went to so many thrift stores. Here are some of my thrifting loot but I have so many that I have not posted yet. I will have to take more pictures as soon as the mama's day is over.

I love this wooden box. It's huge. I don't know what to put in it yet but I know I need it.

I love these bottles and the shabby chic mirror.
And this golden apple. I am loving apples lately, specially if they are jars like this one.
and I just can't leave these cups when I see them! I have so many of these.

and my most favorite find, not exactly in it's perfect state but I still love it.
This sign is so heavy. I am so excited to hang it somewhere in the house. I hope I find the perfect spot. I ended up taking off the letters PRK. Now there's a big empty spot on the center. Any ideas on what to put there?

Have a great Mother's Day weekend everyone! and to me :)

Hot ride

I want one! I've been wanting a bike for so long and I think I've found the most perfect one! Custom made. Yes, how cool is that?

I think I want it in pink and white or mint and white, Oh I just can't decide!

You can get it through Urban Outfitters or straight from Republic Bikes.

Polar Bear Burrito

I think I've never mentioned about my other shop before.
Well, here it is. Its called Polar Bear Burrito.
The name was from a a dream I've had many nights ago. I dreamed that I was holding a very cute baby polar bear wrapped in a blankie. It kept on giggling and couldn't keep still. I've never forgotten about his cuteness ever since.

Here are new things that were listed today...
 Cool things for your home.

Hop on in.

Sometimes i want to do so much that I end up doing nothing.

Things I enjoy.Places I love.Things that are dear.

  Christmas lights.

I want them in my house all throughout the year. I feel so happy when I fall asleep with these dreamy lights above my head. Now,  I wonder why they aren't in my room anymore.

Oh yeah, I remember now, my mom thought it was a fire hazard so she hid it in the storage while I was away.

blowing dandelions...
I'm like a kid in the candy store when I see dandelions! I get so excited that I always forget to make a wish before blowing it.
My son loves dandelions too. I wonder if that was hereditary.

blowing bubbles...
I love blowing bubbles! Sometimes I get lost in it and time passes by without me noticing it. Once, when I was still living on the 3rd floor of an apartment building in downtown, I blew bubbles for close to an hour with my head sticking out the window. I filled the whole pool area of the apartment building next to ours. The wind was so calm so the bubbles flew gently and filled the whole place. It was such a dreamy sight. There were hundreds and hundreds of them floating around. I saw a few heads pop out of their window to enjoy ithem with me.

 City lights...

When I had an apartment in the city, I had big windows with no curtains. I love sleeping with the lights off and the only thing that would light up the whole place were the lights from the buildings of the LA skyline. It was so odd that such a busy place can feel so peaceful. The beautiful view kept me awake for hours because I couldn't stop staring at it. It's been years but it's still so vivid in my mind, like it was just yesterday.

Laying down on the grass and looking up at the blue skies...

My whole family loves to do this. I used to do this all the time. Specially on the sand. It's so calming to look at the infinite blue sky. I forgot that I used to do this until I saw my son do it every time he sees grass. It's nice to be reminded of who you are, through your child.

pretending to be a mermaid...
source

I grew up near the beach. Every morning, before going to school, my dad would take me for a swim. I was so sickly when I was growing up and the doctor said fresh air would help me get better and healthier (plus jars and jars of medications, ugh) I would swim a lot by myself. And I would pretend that I was a mermaid. I did that every time I swam that I almost believed that I was one once.
Blame it on 'Splash'. I loved that movie a little bit too much.

rooftops...
probably my most favorite place. I used to hang out a lot on roof tops. Whenever my apartment has one or even back in the Philippines when I had access to the roof through my window. I would hang out there for hours. Even late at night. Alone. I just loved it so much that rooftops became my very best friend. I've cried there, fell in love there, broke hearts there, laughed there, screamed...

If only you could talk to all the rooftops I've been on. Oh, If only I could talk to them and reminisce.

How about you? what are the things that you love to do? things you love so much? Where do you feel the calmest?
I would love to know a little bit of who you are.

Goodnight for now.

Beloved Story

This is our beautiful dog, Story. We found out today that he is terribly sick but we'll know tomorrow from the doctor exactly what is going on. Please help us pray for his recovery. We love him very much. He is the most perfect dog ever.

He's the first one to check the baby when he cries. He loves our kids very much. He is just the most perfect dog and never gives us any headache except when he fights with our son over toys. He is our youngest baby, only a year old, born on our Anniversary. It was like it was meant to be, for us to have him, for him to have us.
I hope he gets better soon and that he is not in pain.
We love you Story!

Chic mum

My new website is opening soon. I'm very excited. I've decided not to stick to a theme because I find it very limiting. My theme before was very Marie Antoinette, Lolita-ish, I really loved it but I felt like I couldn't go to any other direction but that and most of the time I felt very uninspired because I felt like I was being forced to stick to one specific thing and for an artist that is very difficult to do. With my new site, I was able to include my artwork, my handmade clothes, vintage amongst other things. But most importantly, I am able to share my love for parties! I have always enjoyed entertaining and organizing different events in my family and I've always heard many good things about my party giveaways and such so I've decided to include them in my new shop! But these aren't the ones you would usually see everywhere. These are exclusive to Chickything and only absolutely, definitely, strictly for cool, chic moms only. Not everyone can appreciate it but I hope that most of you will!

Here is a sneak peek!
These are black pram strollers. Can be used as cupcake toppers or containers for bath salt or potpourri. Or it can be an embellishment for a gift. Lots of possibilities!

I love the color! I wish I’ve thought of this on my baby shower. Specially that I’ve wished of having a pram stroller for my baby. But $900 was a bit too much.

How about you? What would you do with these cuties?

I hope you love it as much as I do!

Coffee and then some...

Our weekend was so much fun. No thrifting but that was fine with me. I had a great time spending the weekend with my family.

I love the Yoshitomo Nara shirt he is wearing on this photo.I wish they had a bigger size, so I can wear one too.
He loved playing with this mini grand piano. The size is perfect for him.

We visited a lot of shops around our neighborhood. We live in a very Bohemian area (according to wiki) that's why you won't find any big chain stores like Walmart around here.We have lots of small, artsy cafes and brick and mortar shops.

pictures were taken by my trusty Samsung Finesse cell phone. I love it! Better than toting my heavy DSLR.
Photos were taken at Twerps and Swork. And yes, they may sound like one quirky-named company but these are two quirky-named companies. Don't you just love the names they came up with?

How was your weekend? Mind telling me?
