Carnival party

The party is over. There's a lot of cleaning to do but oh my what a fun time we all had! We had a terrible heat wave yesterday (and today and tomorrow) but that didn't stop us from having a great time. I forgot to take out the popsicles and ice cream but that only meant that we didn't really mind the heat because we were having so much fun!
I made a photo booth out of a polkadot vinyl table cloth and made mustaches sticks.

The photo booth was a big hit!
Photos of food, the birthday boy and the cake will be posted soon! So come back and visit my blog again!

Party mood

It's 2am. I wake up in 3 hours and I'm still awake. I'm working on some party favors for Saturday (carnival themed 3rd birthday party for my son)  and I feel like sharing them to you before I go to bed.

I used the left over popcorn bags from this candyland themed party we had last year. I just love these bags! They're like glassine envelopes. Very delicate but I love the vintage quality of it.
I got some colorful bubbles from Walmart and some candies. I've decided to skip the toys since kids just end up throwing them away. Not really practical and bad for the environment.
stuff inside: oreo or marshmallows, skittles or Laffy taffy, Caramel Apple Lollipop, bubbles
I used the tape I bought from a Japanese store to label the bottles. I also used it to close the bags.
I am using a vintage wooden crate for this
Goodnight world!

What I love today

I'm so in love with these photos, I can't stop staring at them!

Today, I finished making the fabric bunting for the party on Saturday. I don't know if I should make more.

Birthday Boy

Today is the actual birthday of my son. The party is this coming saturday. He's 3 now! i am still in denial.

He woke up so early and in a great happy mood!

This morning, he was playing his online games and I was vaccuuming the floor. I was even talking to him but he remained still. Little did I know he was fast asleep.
This was the second time he fell asleep here, the first time was this
I think it's hilarious!
Of course, I carried him to bed after snapping pictures.
Happy Birthday! We love you so very much!

XOXO

Today I installed a curtain rod in my studio for some pretty tutus I made that I'd be selling on the website soon! I have way too much stuff that I have to make use of every space even the ceiling! I love how it prettified the space.
I apologize for the mess, It's all clean now as I'm writing this.

Pretty boots

I've thrifted so many good things last weekend. I will try to show them all to you soon but today I just need to make a post about these shoes I've found!
These beautiful Tretorn rain boots!
Brand new rubber boots in the prettiest color! in my size! For $5! Perfect find!
These shoes are not too expensive when you buy them from the store but still, for $5 these were a great find!
I can't wait for some rain! I think you'll find me dancing in the street with these lovely boots and no umbrella!

Birthday Preparation

I'm so busy with my son's 3rd birthday party this coming weekend. I am so behind schedule. I don't know why I always seem to do everything last minute! And why I am doing house painting this weekend! of all days! I just finished painting the porch and the bedroom but everything is topsy turvy! I am being optimistic. I can do this! I know I can!
Right now I am off to order the custom cake. Here's my inspiration.
I'll just add circus animals on the top and some flags. This is a circus/carnival themed birthday party.
I hope I get everything done! Wish me luck!

I am grateful

Today we had free ice cream sundae at my daughter's school. That should be celebrated because it's nice to know that some good things are still free!
This morning, we all woke up late.I usually wake up at 6:00 am but this morning I woke up at 7:30! And of course, everyone else in the house woke up after I did. So can you imagine how we were all scrambling and running here and there! So, I've decided to help the kids get ready which I almost never do. I rarely go to their room in the mornings bec. I have breakfast duties. But today I did, so when they all left, I decided to clean up a bit. I cleaned the bed and the desk and I put things away. And oh my, I jumped off of where I was standing and onto the bed in extreme pain and was in utter shock when I realized I had touched the metal part of the curling iron while it was plugged! My daughter who loved curling her hair before going to school left it plugged in! Instead of cussing my brains out like I would normally do, worst case scenario flashed before my eyes and I just sat there thanking God that our house didn't burn down. See, I usually sleep after everyone leaves. And my son and I usually wake up sometimes as late as 1pm! So can you imagine if I never saw the curling iron and was left plugged for hours?
Guess what, no one is ever curling their hair except probably on my big wedding day!
I'm glad we still have a house and everyone's okay except for my blisters that would only remind me how awesome it is to have a home.

Ever since my son is around 1 and a half, he would pick up flowers and give them to me. I can no longer count all the flowers he had given me. I wish I had kept them all. Today he gave me another one and I had an idea. I will press them in a book and write down when and where he had picked them.
I can't wait to start this very special project!

My kids are very independent. And I am very proud that I have taught them how to tend for themselves. We have a big family and it would be so difficult if they were all dependent on me. I would go insane! Just a few hours ago, I was laying on the bed not feeling up to par and they made beef sliders for me with all the fixings! My 11 year old daughter cooked the patties and my older kids (14 year old twins) helped out making the burgers and feeding the baby.

We have the most perfect dog! He is so smart, sweet and very obedient. Except for the few times in a day that he would run out and pretend that he doesn't hear us calling him when he's gallivanting outside in the street! He's the youngest in the family... We are trying to be very understanding, specially when I run out with my 'bedtime attire' for all the world to see!

I have so much to be thankful for, I can go on forever! But here's a few and I hope I inspire you to look at your own life and see what you're thankful for.
