Valentine's Day in July

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

"Love is patient, love is kind. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in sin, but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always hopes, always trusts, always perseveres. Love never fails."

A pretty mess

What my work table looks like...

I love that I am constantly surrounded with beautiful and sparkly things. I have hundreds and hundreds of these vintage baubles that I've collected through the years.

I have been so busy working on inventory for the shop. I hope you like what you find there when it opens. This weekend, I'm also having a giveaway! I'm quite excited about that. I hope you come back to join!

Our Garden

I haven't been blogging lately. We are so busy prettifying the house. We started with the front lawn. I've trimmed off weeds and added mulch. What a difference mulch makes. How I wish the red color stays but they never do. I love the way everything looks like now though. And for some reason, when everything is clean and organized, you just feel more energized.

I love hanging out there with a glass of iced tea and catching up on blogs. Have a Happy Thursday everyone!

Perfect summer treat

This is one of my favorite desserts. In the Philippines we have the same thing but a lot more complicated. But in Japan and Korea, they have the same kind but a lot simpler. You can do it at home if you have an ice shaver or a blender.

You can put any fruits you like but the base of it is just shaved ice and condensed and evaporated milk.
Add fruity rice krispies or frosted flakes for added texture. Sweet beans is a must too.
The ideal fruits to add are strawberries, kiwi, mangoes, bananas, or just add fruit cocktail from a can if you want it fast.
Add a scoop of Vanilla ice cream on top and a cherry and voila!
The perfect dessert on this hot Summer day!

Enjoy!

Weekend Recap

We had an awesome weekend. Full of good food and good times. First stop for 'brunch' was the famous Philippe's in downtown Los Angeles. We wanted to take the kids there because they haven't been there yet. But oh my! the line was sooo long and the place was full of tourists. Of all the restaurants in chi town, it's just not worth the wait. I had a lamb chop french dipped, good but not out of this world good. The kids didn't really enjoy the food. I don't think we're going back anytime soon. I think we spent almost a $100 just for sandwiches. So not worth it.

That night, my mister and I went to this Korean place called Shilla. I didn't know what to expect but he likes it a lot and he often goes there with his colleagues. So, I went along and was I surprised.
The food was awesome, the ambiance too. The service was superb and I just loved everything about it that as soon as we left, we were already planning in going back.

We had ribs and bulgogi. And we grilled it right on the table. Of course, like the usual Korean restaurants they serve you a lot of good appetizers and they were just delish!

I had eaten so much that night. It was just unbelievable! I cook so I am very hard to please when it comes to food but this place is just awesome! You must definitely try!
After that we drove another half an hour to go to koreatown in this coffee shop a block away from my old apartment. I used to live in an apartment in the middle of Koreatown in downtown Los Angeles and I used to walk to these cool coffee shops. Unfortunately, that cafe closed down and it was replaced by this place called 'Holly's Coffee'. The place is very beautiful but the coffee is quite bad. We had this ice shaved dessert that I used to have at the same cafe that they have replaced, good but not as good as the old one's.

Bottomline, it was a long day but it was filled with good times.
How was your weekend?

Movie Friday

Movie Friday was late today. I just finished taking off the carpeting from my twin's bedroom. It was such a difficult job for one person but I survived it in one piece.

Here are my movie recommendations for today...

For single women out there looking for Mister right then this is the movie for you!
It's an odd movie about love. Very unpredictable and out of this world but it's still romantic.
Here is their official site.

The next movie I want to recommend is for couples who are having problems and want to get out of their marriage. This film is very inspirational, it would remind you of the vows you made (or didn't mean) when you got married. It is a serious movie about love, faith and marriage. It would be awesome if you can watch it with your spouse.

I hope you enjoy these movies as much as I did. Fireproof changed my life in so many ways. And I just want to share it with you guys.

Have a Happy Weekend! Next week, I have a surprise for all of you. So please check back soon!

In love with Carmela...

Everytime I go to the Pasadena farmer's market, I always have to stop by at Carmela's ice cream booth. I am not really fond of eating ice cream, even if they were free, even if they were right in front of me but this particular ice cream I just could not ever resist (regardless of the price tag), I just have to get it whenever I can.
They have the oddest flavors! But they just taste awesome! They have flavors like lemon basil, cucumber amongst others ( I think they are coming up with new flavors as we speak) Last time, I had Lavender honey. Oh that one was a dream! I just found out today that it's their bestseller. I can't even explain how it tastes like, it just makes you so happy like you're floating on air and beneath you is a lush garden, then you fall and the flowers catch you. You know what I mean.

Today, I had rose petal ice cream (this time a bigger size!) I looove it! And I finished the whole, entire thing! It had real rose petals in it, oh I can't find the words to describe it. It smelled like falling in love... Tasted like that first ever kiss. You know what I mean.

Here are some photos I found on google. I guess, I'm not the only one in love with it.
